As a Black lesbian feminist, she spoke out when silence felt easier, and created space for others to do the same. Her reminder that “your silence will not protect you” pushes us to show up for ourselves and for each other—loudly, proudly, and with purpose. Sohni is the YES NYC Director of Programs & Commun Sohni is the YES NYC Director of Programs & Community Outreach—and a recent alum of the LEAP Impact Program (@leapuncaptalent), which brings together AAPI nonprofit leaders to reflect on identity, leadership, and community. In her work at YES, Sohni brings values into how she builds teams and supports Scholars—centering collaboration, care, and cultural reflection. “AAPI Month to me is about representation and coming together as a coalition, despite cultural differences, to strengthen the community.” As AAPI Heritage Month comes to a close, we’re proud to uplift Sohni’s story and the values she carries into the work she does! #AAPIHeritageMonth #YESscholars #LEAPImpact #PakistaniAmerican #RepresentationMatters #CollectiveLeadership #YESNYC
YES LA middle and high school Scholars had a blast YES LA middle and high school Scholars had a blast at the LA Maker Faire! 🔧🤖 They explored everything from 3D-printed art to high school-built robots—and even got to build their own light circuits. Along the way, they connected with organizations like NASA, local museums, colleges, and the LA Public Library, all showing the many ways STEM shows up in our everyday lives. Events like these are more than just fun—they help Scholars discover new interests and see the many paths that STEM can offer. #YES2STEM #HandsOnLearning #CareerExposure #LAMakerFaire #YESLA #STEMeducation #FutureInnovators
